Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Define birth-related trauma, including both psychological and physical components
- Explain how trauma affects the body and mind, including common neurobiological and psychological responses (e.g. fight, flight, freeze, dissociation)
- Understand the use of appropriate screening approaches and tools (e.g. COPE guidelines, City Birth Trauma Scale) to support early identification
- Recognise indicators of physical birth trauma, including common injuries and associated symptoms
- Explain the ways birth-related trauma can affect fathers and partners.
